More great reviews + some more radioshows
Hi, This month Revolver magazine publishes a meaty interview + 5 star review of the album.
And it's the no.1 record too. Mission accomplished so far!
Meanwhile I'm doing a lot of radio and tv stuff; most noteably I'll do a "2 Meter" session on a double bill with the superb Disciplines who will also back me up on my slot! Check out their "Smoking Kills" album on iTunes or in your local recordstore. It's goooooood!
I'll scan the interview + review as soon as it's in the shops.

Something's burning...
Folks... I'm told to stay cool, but I cannot stop from saying what a week I've been through. All I can say it's been something that will not go unnoticed!
It's been truly mad, and it was definately not all about JB... I'm dying to spread the word, but in meantime; you'll have to trust that although I've been on a 100+ records, been called a veteran; this one was all about goosebumps, tears, and intense laughter. OK, so that's for the reader/listener to decide for sure, but it's a document! May I be struck by lightning if these words ain't true!

Volkskrant and Parool stuff

Yeah, folks. All good news. A little too much to translate, but no nasty words. Catching Ophelia's got a
5 star (out of 5 stars, that is...) in this month's Revolver magazine. Pretty similar to the Oor review. Well...
Slightly better! Furthermore: entered the alt. charts at #14, Concerto best sold cd's at #2, Platomania en-
tering at #9. I'm working on live dates with the all star band, but maybe you can imagine it's a lot of work
to make it happen, with our schedules. But, I can tell you we're dying to do it. Meanwhile I should be
packing for yet another stint at ICP studios tomorrow. Can't tell you what it is, but it's going to me some-
thing monumental! Peace. JB.

Oor review, Volkskrant interview and De Wereld Draait Door
JBOorRevie1
Here's the OOR magazine review. Pretty awesome. Thanks Marcel! I also appeared on De Wereld Draait Door last nite. This show is Holland's best viewed tv show. I've been told they draw about 2 million viewers. But Jazz, the band and me remained unnerved. Actually, we had some fun! Lost the voice tho.
And; here's the translation of the piece.
JBM was part of Shine and Supersub and has been working the past 10 years as muso/producer for countless acts, among which Acda en de Munnik, De Dijk, Ellen Ten Damme, Eboman and Daryll-Ann. A very impressive cv, that raises the question why the 37 year old multi-instrumentalist didn't take some time off before to make a solo record. Especially considering the high quality of songs he's cooked up. Jan-Bart, who's assisted by rennomated musicians like german stardrummer Harry Bum Tschak, Wouter Planteijdt (Sjako!) and Ken Stringfellow (R.E.M., Posies, Big Star), serves a fairly conventional rock-idiom, in which very noticeable and audible a lot of attention has been paid to the sometimes lush, then compact arrangements. Spicy guitarwork is sometimes swapped around for almost symphonic keyboardparts, but the catchy melody and the song is always first. That this doesn't result in high coherence one should consider as secondary importance, because the commercial potency really bursts out. We're enormously curious about the stagework by JB and his exquisite club of musicians.

Bang on, dude!

Catching Ophelia/Engel launch party @ Paradiso was a smash
JB 11
The launch of Catching Ophelia in Paradiso was a totally amazing one. First Wanda (Bommer) was on presenting her new novel "Engel".
Thomas Acda read some excerpts with (some of) us as being in Wad Bij Nacht playing Crosstown Traffic, Pinball Wizzard and Love hurts.
After a little break me and the band were on and we were one tight unit! Somewhat happily nervous we banged our way through 9 of the 14 Ophelia tracks to great response from the audience who hadn't heard too much before. Here's a link to Bob Bronshoff's site where you can watch some pics that give a nice impression of what went on in that steamy upstairs hall in P'diso. What else can I say; it's on sale! Go check it out! Also on iTunes, of course!
